How It Works
TotalRecalls saves your AI conversations into a private folder on your computer — readable Markdown + JSON you keep forever. Four steps, start to finish.
- Buy once — checkout via Lemon Squeezy. One-time $24 launch price, no subscription. You get a download link for the Windows app immediately.
- Install — unzip and run TotalRecalls.exe. No installer, no background services, no account. Windows 10/11.
- Pick a provider — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini (via Google Takeout), or Grok. You sign in locally, exactly like a browser.
- Export — conversations land in a Library folder on your PC as Markdown + JSON, organized per provider. Browse, search, or back them up anywhere.
Where your data lives
- Everything stays on your machine — a plain folder of files you own.
- Session tokens are used locally and never leave your PC.
- No cloud locker. No TotalRecalls account. Nothing to sign up for.
What you get per provider
- ChatGPT — every conversation as Markdown + JSON, including images and metadata. See the ChatGPT export guide.
- Claude — Projects and long threads, kept as files. See the Claude export guide.
- Perplexity — research threads before you lose the tab trail. See the Perplexity export guide.
- Gemini — uses your Google Takeout folder/JSON (the most reliable path). See the Gemini Takeout guide.
- Grok — session scanning on grok.com. See the Grok export guide.
Common questions
- Will my provider block me? TotalRecalls works within each provider's own export/Takeout features — you must follow their terms.
- Mac? Windows today (WebView2). Mac is planned if demand is real.
- SmartScreen warning? Unsigned builds may show one — "More info → Run anyway". See the SmartScreen help page.
